Funnel builder with no monthly fee: every real pay-once option, compared

Want a funnel builder with no monthly fee? The real one-time payment options in 2026, what each still costs every month, and who each one fits.

If you want a funnel builder with no monthly fee, there are five real routes in 2026: a lifetime licence for a checkout tool like ThriveCart, a lifetime WordPress plugin like CartFlows, a free plan on a hosted platform like Systeme.io, open-source software you host yourself, or a funnel you buy once and run on your own accounts, like FunnelOnce. None of them is truly free to run. The question is what you still pay every month after the one-time price, and what you have to bolt on to get a whole funnel.

This post goes through each one honestly, with the numbers.

What "no monthly fee" actually means

Three things get sold under the same words:

  • A lifetime licence. You pay once for the software. You may still pay for hosting, other tools, or a yearly fee for updates on some tiers.
  • A free plan. You pay nothing, but you live inside someone else's platform with their limits, and you upgrade when you outgrow them.
  • Software you own. You pay once (or nothing, for open source) and run it on accounts in your name. You pay those accounts directly, often on their free tiers.

All three can be the right answer. They're just not the same thing, so it's worth knowing which one you're buying.

Now the detail behind each row.

ThriveCart: the original "pay once" cart

ThriveCart is the name most people think of when they hear "lifetime deal". It's a checkout and cart tool: good checkout pages, order bumps, one-click upsells, affiliates, and a course area.

What changed in 2026: ThriveCart launched monthly plans: Standard at $47 a month ($37 a month billed annually) and Pro+ at $87 a month ($67 billed annually). The lifetime licence is still offered, and ThriveCart's own comparison pages quote $495 for Standard, but the lifetime price is no longer shown on the main pricing page. Historically, the higher lifetime tiers also came with a yearly fee from the second year. Check the current terms with ThriveCart before you buy.

What it doesn't do is replace the rest of your stack. You still need a website for the sales page around the checkout and an email marketing tool for your list. If you already pay for both, ThriveCart is a strong pick. If you don't, the "one payment" turns into one payment plus two subscriptions.

If you're weighing it up, there's a fuller comparison in the ThriveCart alternative post.

CartFlows and FunnelKit: funnels inside WordPress

If your site already runs on WordPress with WooCommerce, a funnel plugin is the natural fit. You get funnel steps, a custom checkout, order bumps and upsells, inside the site you already have.

  • CartFlows sells yearly plans (Plus at $199 a year, Pro at $299 a year, both renewing higher) and lifetime licences: Plus Lifetime at $699 and Pro Lifetime at $999, each for up to 30 sites.
  • FunnelKit is yearly only. Its plans start at $99.50 a year for one site, as an introductory price that renews higher, and FunnelKit says plainly that it doesn't sell a lifetime deal.

The licence is only part of the bill. A WordPress funnel also needs WordPress hosting (monthly), WooCommerce and often a few paid WooCommerce extensions, a course or membership plugin if you sell lessons, and an email tool. Each one updates on its own schedule, and you're the one who keeps them working together. That's fine if WordPress is already your home. It's a lot to take on from scratch.

Systeme.io free plan: free, with a ceiling

Systeme.io has the most generous free plan in the category. According to its pricing page, the free plan includes 2,000 contacts, 3 sales funnels, 1 course (up to 500 students), unlimited email sends and 1 custom domain.

The limits are the point to read carefully:

  • A sales cap. The free plan processes up to $10,000 in total sales. After that you have three days to upgrade before payments stop.
  • One automation rule and one email campaign.
  • If you go over a limit and don't fix it, the account is restricted: forms and payments stop and students lose access to the course until you upgrade.

Paid plans are $17, $47 and $97 a month. So the free plan is a good way to test an idea, and it's honest about being a ramp to a monthly plan once the idea works. Your funnel, list and course all live on Systeme.io's platform either way.

Open source: free software, not a free funnel

There are good open-source projects in the area: course platforms like LearnHouse, CourseLit and Moodle, and marketing automation like Mautic. The software costs nothing.

What you get is a part, not a funnel. None of them gives you a sales page, a checkout with an order bump and a one-click upsell, follow-up emails and funnel analytics working together out of the box. You'd connect a course tool, a payment provider, an email tool and a page, host them on a server, and keep them updated. For a developer who enjoys that, it's a fine weekend project. For someone who wants to sell, it's the piecemeal stack with extra steps.

FunnelOnce: the funnel bought once, run on your accounts

FunnelOnce is the option we make, so weigh this section with that in mind.

It's a finished funnel you buy once ($297, or three payments of $109) and run on three accounts in your name:

  • Cloudflare hosts it. The free plan covers a small funnel. Workers Paid is $5 a month when traffic grows.
  • Stripe takes the money. Card fees only, nothing on top, and no percentage to us.
  • Resend sends the email. Free up to 3,000 emails a month.

In the box: the sales page, checkout in a window on the page, order bumps, one-click upsells and downsells, a free gift with popups, welcome emails and checkout reminders, cookieless analytics, and a members area for courses, coaching, a community and more when you need them. One purchase covers as many sites as you want to build.

You don't wire it up yourself. You open the folder in an AI coding agent (Claude, Cursor, Codex, Gemini) and describe what you sell. The agent builds the site, tests the whole purchase with fake payments, then walks you through connecting the accounts. The walkthrough is in how to build a sales funnel with Claude Code.

The other thing "pay once" means here: it keeps running. FunnelOnce runs on your Cloudflare account, so there's no subscription of ours that can lapse and take your funnel offline. Your buyers are customers in your Stripe and your list is in your Resend. (Why that matters: own your customer list.)

What you give up with FunnelOnce

  • No drag-and-drop editor. Your AI writes and edits the pages. You say what to change instead of dragging boxes.
  • You hold the keys. You create the three accounts and paste the keys. The setup checker tells you which one is missing.
  • You need to be comfortable working with an AI agent. If that sounds like a chore rather than a shortcut, a hosted platform will suit you better.

Lifetime deals: three questions before you buy

Whichever option you look at, ask:

  1. What do I still pay every month? Add up hosting, email and every add-on, not just the licence.
  2. What happens to updates? Some lifetime licences include updates for good. Some tiers charge a yearly renewal for them.
  3. What happens if the company stops? With hosted software, your funnel depends on them. With software that runs on your own accounts, it keeps working.

Who should pick what

  • You already have a site and an email tool: a lifetime checkout like ThriveCart.
  • You live in WordPress: CartFlows lifetime.
  • You have no budget and want to test an idea: Systeme.io's free plan, and expect to upgrade if it works.
  • You want the whole funnel, paid once, on accounts you own: FunnelOnce.

Not sure? The two-minute quiz gives a straight answer. The monthly platforms are compared on the comparison page, and if you're on one now, there's a page for moving without losing sales.

FAQ

Is there a funnel builder with no monthly fee?

Yes, a few. ThriveCart and CartFlows sell lifetime licences, Systeme.io has a free plan with limits, and FunnelOnce is bought once and runs on your own Cloudflare, Stripe and Resend accounts. Each still has some running costs, so add up hosting, email and card fees before you compare.

Is a lifetime deal really one payment?

The licence is. What's around it often isn't: hosting, an email tool, add-ons, and on some tiers a yearly fee for updates. Ask what you'll pay each month after the one-time price before you buy.

What's the cheapest way to run a sales funnel?

To start, a free plan like Systeme.io's costs nothing until you hit its limits. Over a few years, a funnel you buy once and run on free tiers of your own accounts is usually cheapest, because nothing grows with your sales or your list until you pass those free tiers.

Do I need to know how to code to run my own funnel?

No. With FunnelOnce, your AI coding agent does the building from a playbook that ships in the folder. You decide what you sell, the prices and the offers, and you create the accounts.
